2nd letter to Indiana Government-E-mailed June 26, 2007. This has been revised as it is again headed to our "elected" public servants, state leaders & congress!Government (PROPAGANDA) Rebuttals SMOKING BAN-WAGONS Also known as "Government NANNYISM/HYPOCRISY”! A growing number of independent policy experts from a wide range of professions and different political views are speaking out against the anti-smoking campaign. They defend smoking for several reasons: *The public health community’s campaign to demonize smokers and all forms is based on “JUNK SCIENCE”. *SMOKING BANS HURT SMALL BUSINESSES AND VIOLATE PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS! *Punishing smokers “for their own good” is repulsive to the basic libertarian principal fought to limit the use of government force. Learn why Federal Judge, “ William Osteen” THREW OUT the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency’s) 1993 report finding that secondhand tobacco smoke causes lung cancer. BIG FAT LIE! (website link)If that is too stale of an article, go to this link, it’s simple, just watch it.
For mature audiences only-a few "bad words" may be heard

The BIG LIE opened in Washington in the first year of the Clinton administration, in 1993, with an Environmental Protection Agency report that began the civil war in saloons and restaurants. Denounced eventually in Federal Court as “Corrupt Science” Two years later, the Congressional Research Service, An independent arm of Congress, Found that there was NO SCIENTIFIC basis for the notion that secondhand smoke endangers health. This is a political platform, plain and simple.
Politicians seem to care more about gaining and maintaining power and position and seeing what they can get out of their tenure as “public servants” than they do about actually serving the public. Business owners will admit- Smoking is messy. Smoke lingers on our clothes, hair and place of business. It may even flair up your allergies if “smoke” happens to be one of them. However, If smoking is in fact a "health matter", take your "claimed proof" to the legislature (again) to have cigarettes removed from the market nationwide. By allowing them to remain on the market as a "choice" to collect the cigarette taxes-then the ADULT public & business owners that cater to adults have a choice also. "Ban" our choice & collect the cigarette tax is Government hypocrisy! There is a lack of balance, brought on by our own government.
We cater to who pays our bills, the ADULT customers. Business owners are capable of adding a non smoking area inside to cater to the needs of their customers, without Government regulations. I am capable of advertising & putting up a sign on my door letting other ADULTS know BEFORE they walk in the door that MY business is a “Smoking or Non-smoking” establishment. It could be posted next to the one stating 8 out of 9 local Fort Wayne City Councilmen/Indiana Governments DO NOT PAY MY BILLS- Smoking is allowed here! “Freedom of Choice”! We ALL have to say ENOUGH!
Copy, paste and forward this message to everyone you know. Ask those imposing smoking bans & those campaigning to ban smoking nationwide-"IF you have the "scientific medical proof" to BAN smoking in public & private businesses, "to protect the public"- Why haven't cigarettes been REMOVED from the market, not to be sold-NATIONWIDE?
Business owners are forced to comply as our own Government continues to cash in on cigarette sales. Business owners are forced to close our doors, or barely hanging on, as our Government raises our taxes. Local economies suffer when businesses close. If we can not afford to keep our doors open, how can we pay our mortgage? Have you seen the housing market? Wake up congress! While you're busy pointing fingers and looking into who did what in your own cabinet, or trying to "play the role of President"-YOU have forgotten the PEOPLE in the states that got you elected. ****************************************************** In our own community Over 21 business owners ask to be exempt from the smoking ban As the CITY welcomes smokers to support a CITY function under Headwater Park city tent-Drink, smoke as children play nearby. DOUBLE STANDARD SAFETY CONCERNS!
The 8 out of 9 Fort Wayne City Councilmen- Decide for yourself if they are doing what they set out to do IF ELECTED to represent the PEOPLE of Fort Wayne Indiana. Here is a copy and pasted reminder of their promises to the people off their “councilmen” website-
OUT OF CONTROL GOVERNMENT SPENDING AT THE TAXPAYERS EXPENSE A "handful of people" are making decisions that the majority of our community is paying for.
The Mayor of Fort Wayne Graham Richards "Looking out for our economy"? Richards is not running for re-election. Stated he will veto any attempt to lift the "city council" smoking ban. The people of Fort Wayne already has a baseball diamond attraction. Because it is owned by the COUNTY- The mayor & city council approve a 2nd "30 million" baseball diamond in downtown Fort Wayne. 300 hundred people show up for the unveiling-the rest of us THOUSANDS do not approve-If you're going to increase our taxes AGAIN-build something we don't already have. How much revenue can a baseball diamond bring in the winter?
The Governor of Indiana Mitch Daniels (Just threw HIS hat to run again for Governor of Indiana) Another tax -40 cents per pack of cigarettes will be added beginning July 1, 2007 Why? Because as smoking is a "choice" the Government will continue to make a profit.
Now that the toll road has been sold, for one lump sum-There's no more money coming in from that So he increased our gas tax is at the worst time possible. The people of Indiana pleaded for the gas tax to be lifted-The Governors office reply: "The Governors office does not have the power to lift the gas tax". "Democratic Gov. Frank O’Bannon suspended the sales tax on gasoline from July to September in 2000 when prices reached about $1.80 per gallon, which was considered quite expensive then. He said the move was necessary to help Hoosiers cope with the higher prices and keep Indiana businesses competitive".June 22, newspaper says, “Daniels revs up RV for road to re-election” In his preview of the campaign, Daniels touched on what we will hear and not hear on his re-election campaign trail. “We will speak to the citizens of our state as ADULTS… We will say what we believe, and do what we say, and let the chips fall, and I believe they will fall positively. You go on to say, “Now here is what you won’t hear. You won’t hear claims of perfection..But as we have always promised, our mistakes will be made on the front foot, they will be errors of commission not omission. And when we try something that doesn’t work well enough, we’ll admit it, own up, and go back and fix it”. Well, how about fixing it! What happened to the "property tax cap"? Property taxes go up AGAIN in Indiana. We the people of Indiana are forced to file lawsuits to protect our rights. What happened to "errors of commission not omission"?
It's an election year, it's time to hold these people accountable for the choices they have made in office. Have they supported our own economy? Have they represented the people who trusted them to represent our communities? Have they done what they said, "if elected" the first time we voted for them, or have they used their public servant position to impose MORE government control? It is our duty & your right as an American to stand UNITED at the poles in November & cast our vote AGAINST Government Tyranny.
